Patrick Jones

Patrick Jones was born in 1948, and studied at Exeter, Gloucestershire and Birmingham Colleges of Art, before taking a Masters in Fine Art at the Maryland Institute, Baltimore, USA. His work has twice been chosen for a Hayward Anuual, in 1974 and again in 1980. His solo shows have included the Serpentine Gallery in 1978, Nicola Jacobs Gallery, London in 1981, the ICA, London 1982, and Hunter College, New York, 1983.

In 1982 Jones took part in the Triangle Workshops, Mashomack, New York State, and has participated in numerous group shows, workshops, residencies and teaching in both Britain and America.  The work of this distinguished abstract painter is characterised by experimentation, variation and renewal. Jones' vision of the possiblities for the medium of paint itself in his earlier work is combined with a strong sense of the power of abstract imagery in more recent work.
